Snow in Virginia!

Hi Everyone,

We got snow this week and it has been super cold. The kids here were out of school for a whole week. A WHOLE WEEK!  It was finals at a lot of the schools, so they were super lucky kids:)  It was interesting, we really didn't get that much snow. It is a lot like Oregon here they just don't get a lot of snow so it kind of freaks everyone out:) This kind of threw our whole week off. In fact the cars in our mission were grounded on Tuesday so we had to stay home and we watched "The Testaments" It was kind of fun:) The rest of the week we had people cancel on us like crazy and no one wanted us out in the snow. The roads were a little icy, but definitely not as bad as we thought they would be. I used this time to catch up on letters. I am glad to hear that people got them already. I had quite a stack to catch up on.

To answer a few questions:

I still don't have my own money card due to me being a Visa waiter. They put my funds on my Companions card.  I get my money every two weeks and we get $69. I wish I had my own card but I guess it helps me keep track of what I spend.

My testimony has certainly grown while on my mission. I think the greatest thing I have gained a testimony of is that I can rely on Heavenly Father.  Out here we don't have the normal things like music (the music I used to listen to), tv, movies (other than church movies) to help us cope with things. It gets pretty quiet. We have to get over it with the help of the Lord. He is always willing to help us out. It is cool because I feel like my testimony has grown on the little things that as members we take for granted. Like the Sacrament. I was watching the Young Men pass the sacrament yesterday and there was this new Deacon passing who was SOOO excited to pass it. He was basically running down the isles. Haha, but the thought came to me that those young men should all be doing that. They have the opportunity to pass a sacred thing around to remind all of us about sacred ordinances we had made at Baptism and also in the Temple. Those sacred ordinances sometimes get over looked, but they are so beautiful and such a wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father. He has taken a time in the meeting for us to think about them for a reason!

The things I have enjoyed the most on my mission is that I get to take time to read the scriptures every morning and I get time to focus on what is important. I get time to also serve others in ways that I have never before. I get to tell others about Jesus Christ and introduce another testament to them so they can grow even closer to him. I also have had time to really think about life and about what I want in life. Who I want to be, what I want to do as a career, what kind of person I want to be. It has really been life changing!

Like I said this week have been a little messed up due to the weather. We did get to meet with one of our investigators L, who told us she is really trying to quit smoking and we haven't even taught her about the word of wisdom yet!! She is so prepared and you can see a difference in her countenance! She loves the gospel and loves how is can help her raise her children. She has two busy little boys. I played the game dead deer with them (when you tell them to be still and the one that moves first loses) My cousin used to play that with all us younger cousins. Haha I have to say Alison that is an inspired game! Haha

This week we also got a ton of referrals which is sooooo good! We are excited for it to help us out! We have had a good week, but I am glad it is over and I am glad to be starting a new week. Week four of the transfer! I can't believe it is past half way done!!! Whatttt? Time is starting to run away from me and I am now coming up on my 8 month mark in a week and a half. I am not sure how this all happened, but I am grateful for it. Read Hebrews 12:1-2, it is really good! Heavenly Father loves us and is proud of who we are all becoming! just keep enduring! LOVE YOU ALL!! Have a great week! :)

We got Pedicures this week at a place in Goochland at a place called "Beyond Spa." They did a really good job! It was kind of funny there was a TV basically right in front of us. We tried not to watch it, but it was right in front of us. It just reminded me that I actually don't miss TV that much. It is kind of terrible sometimes....the standards of the world are changing and changing and it is getting sad. Satan is really good at his job.

Yep it is snowing here in The Gooch. No I haven't gained a ton of weight I just have many many many layers of clothes. Yes Katie did say that:)

More snow in the Gooch:)
